Looking for a romantic getaway? Planning a family gathering or a weekend away with friends? Water Gums Retreat is the perfect escape in summer or winter. Lovingly hand-built of mudbrick and timber – much of it milled on-site – the house features four bedrooms (two with queen-size beds, one with a double and one with three singles) and two bathrooms, one with a spa-bath. Air conditioning units and fans keep the house cool in summer and the Australian-made Nectre wood-heater keeps it warm in winter.
There is satellite WiFi and a library of books and games. The unique interior timberwork is a feature. The staircase, kitchen benches and bathroom basin surrounds are handcrafted from local apple-box timber and the architraves are made of local grey-box. Chill out with a book and watch the busy birdlife from the long verandah, enjoy a barbecue on the big covered deck (with child-lock gate) while keeping an eye on the nearby billabong and river or wander in the bushland surrounds.
